GTA Youth Leader Program

Youth empowerment remains at the forefront of our community goals. Created in 2019, our GTA Youth Leader Program showcases young leaders who create positive change in their communities while excelling in academics. It is a platform for our youth to inspire others, make meaningful connections with their peers, and reinvigorate positive change in the community.

Benefits

  • Enjoy a complimentary GTA mobile phone services for one academic year and the latest Android or iPhone that you get to keep.

  • Obtain a $2,000 tuition scholarship in a 529 plan account with ASC Trust

  • Up to 160,000 airline mileage points for SY 2021-2022 to approved competition in sports, arts or academics

Eligibility

  • 3.5 Cumulative GPA
  • Excel in sports, the arts, or creating a positive change.
  • Must be a Guam resident and enrolled in a local high school for academic SY 2021-2022

Requirements

  • Applicant is required to fill out the online GTA Youth Leader form
  • Choose 1 of 5 categories (there will only be 1 winner per category)
  • Submit a 60-second video on the topic: How do you create positive change in the community?

Our Youth Leader Categories!

Scholar Athlete

Youth who excel in sports.

Community Philanthropist

Youth who donate their time, energy, and resources towards philanthropic causes (volunteering and community service).

Creative Artist

Youth who have a passion for the arts (visual arts, literary arts, and performing arts).

STEM Achiever

Youth who excel in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

Entrepreneurship/ Career and Technical Innovator

Youth with technical knowledge and skills to prepare for careers in current and emerging occupations and further education

Meet our 2020-2021 GTA Youth leaders!

Lexis Rene Sablan

A recent graduate of Tiyan High School

  • Lexis was the only female on a Guam robotics team who ranked high in an international competition in Dubai and is a member of the National Center for Women and Information Technology.
  • She was among the Top 10 in her graduating class and interned at the Guam Department of Education and the Guam Daily Post.
  • Attending Columbia University in New York on a full-ride scholarship, Fall 2021; Set to intern at Amazon

Justine Xu

An incoming Junior at St. John’s School

  • Her passion for music and the violin led her to receive outstanding achievement at Carnegie Hall in New York.
  • Earned more awards from various international music competitions including the Australian International music festival and the international violin competitions in Japan and Hong Kong and leads the Tumon Bay Youth Orchestra as the Concertmaster.
  • Served as president of her Sophomore class.

A recent graduate of Harvest Christian Academy

  • 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society, she balanced her commitment to teams while devoting time to excelling in the classroom.
  • A Cross Country and Track and Field medalist and a competitive surfer in Guam, Hawaii, and the Philippines.
  • Attending Santa Barbara City College, Fall 2021.

Jim Pamplona

A recent graduate of Simon Sanchez High School.

  • Jim was Vice President of the National Honor Society, Public Relations Officer for his class council, and was a representative of the Island-wide Board of Governing Students while maintaining top 3 ranking in his class.
  • He is passionate about helping his peers as a member of the Youth for Youth organization and enjoys expressing his passion for astronomy.
  • Attending Aeronautical School in Florida, Fall 2021

Jenna Treaster

A recent graduate of Guam High School

  • As an Executive Officer in the Naval Junior Reserve Training Corps (NJROTC) Program, Jenna is determined to make her mark by keeping citizenship, leadership, character, and community at the core of everything she does.

  • She was a 4.0 student, President of the National Honor Society, and was awarded the Outstanding Literacy Award at Guam High School.

  • Attending the University of Oklahoma, Fall 2021
