Adapt

Adaptive and proactive WiFi, only available from HomePass

Buffering is a bad dream of the past! HomePass’s Adapt service delivers ultra-fast, perfectly consistent connectivity across every room. Unlike mesh WiFi setups that only work in a static manner, our system continuously learns and performs self optimizations to keep things running smoothly. HomePass automatically detects the brand and model of your connected devices, ensuring your beloved devices are given capacity to run at full potential.

Guard

Real-time security is important

That’s why HomePass provides Guard, always-on digital and data security for every device on your network. It filters out suspicious activity and even automatically quarantines devices that are behaving strangely. The system also includes built-in ad blocking for overall smoother surfing.

Control

Access today, gone tomorrow

People come and go from your home, and so should their WiFi access. With HomePass’s Control features, you can create guest passwords with expiration dates for extra security. It’s up to you which devices they can access, from the smart tv to the printer—or internet only. No judgement, we know that ink is expensive.

Sense

Existing smart devices become motion detectors

HomePass includes Sense, an unobtrusive way to gain whole-home awareness. The mobile app shows you movement in the vicinity of each connected device or room on your network. Set up alerts to let you know if there’s movement when you’re out. Don’t worry, it can ignore the movement of pets to avoid false alarms. No need to turn it off, the system automatically registers you’ve arrived when your primary device is home, going above and beyond most common smart home hubs.

The main difference between Plume and Google Nest is that Plume is a managed service where GTA has visibility on the Wi-fi network.

How many Pods will I need?

The number of pods you'll need will vary based on several factors, such as the layout, construction of your home, how many devices you plan on using, and the speed of your internet connection. We recommend 2 SuperPods for homes with up to 2 bedrooms, 3 SuperPods with homes up to 3 bedrooms, and 4 or more SuperPods with homes with 4 or more bedrooms.

What devices will work with Prism WiFi?

All WiFi and Ethernet-capable devices should work with Plume. You can visit Plume’s support site to see compatible devices.

How much power does it use?

Power Consumption is based on operating use: 4.5W Standby, 10W Average, 15W Maximum

Does the Plume SuperPods require a hardwire?

Yes, Plume requires at least 1 SuperPod to be plugged into the modem as the Gateway Pod.

Do I need to have a Comtrend WiFi enabled/disabled?

We recommend shutting off the existing Comtrend modem Wi-Fi after the setup to allow Plume to efficiently manage your home Wi-Fi.  If you choose to have your Comtrend Wi-Fi-enabled, be sure that the Wi-Fi SSID/network name is different from the Prism Wi-Fi SSID/network name as it may cause connectivity issues.

How do I shut off the WiFi on my Comtrend modem?

Hold in the 2.4 / 5 GHz buttons located on the front of the modem until the LED indicators turn off.

How do I know that my WiFi is shut off on my Comtrend modem?

The indicator light for WiFi should be off. You can also verify by using one of your wireless devices to see if you can connect to that SSID.

Do I need to be on a certain modem to use Plume?

No.

Is there a minimum speed requirement to sign up for Plume?

No. However, we recommend using Prism WiFi with faster internet speeds for a better experience.

Does the superpod support 2.5 and 5 GHz?

Yes, it is Triple band, simultaneously operating 2.4GHz and 5GHz 2x2 MIMO and 5GHz 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11b/g/n/ac (Wi-Fi 5)

Can 2 superpods be in the same room?

Yes, however, it is recommended to spread the Superpods throughout the home for better coverage.

What is the area/sq ft./radius coverage of SuperPod?

While every home is unique, you can place SuperPods in every other room in your home. It has a range of 30-40 feet through walls and 60-80 feet apart for large open spaces.

Can the superpod be used with another carrier?

GTA’s SuperPods are not locked and can be used with other internet providers. Please note that in Plume’s network, SuperPods that are issued out by GTA are associated with GTA as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and we have the capability of disabling the Pods.

What devices support the HomePass app?

The App is compatible with iPhone 5 and above running iOS 9 and higher and Android smartphones running Android 4.4 and higher.

If I buy my own Plume Pods, will GTA have support for it?

No, we only support devices owned by GTA.

My Plume won't turn on, how do I reset it?

Verify if the SuperPod is properly plugged in. If so, check the status on the HomePass app to see if it’s connected to a network. If it’s not connected, you can call our GTA support team at 6716444482 for assistance.

How do I know if my Plume Pod is on/off?

To verify if your SuperPod is on, you can check the status on the HomePass app.

Does my Plume SuperPod require a surge protector?

Plume SuperPods do not require a surge protector. Unlike Power Line Communication (PLC) based devices, data is not transmitted via the AC lines. Plume pods connect to each via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and will still work as long as they continue to receive power from the outlet.

Can I plug my Plume into a multi-outlet?

Yes, you can plug a pod into a power strip, adapter, extension cord, or surge protector.

My SuperPod is damaged, what does the replacement cost?

If a SuperPod is damaged, the cost to replace it is $109.

I subscribe to Linebacker, will that cover superpod replacements if it is damaged?

The Plume SuperPod is a piece of equipment and does not fall under the linebacker protection.

Does Plume support PoE (Power over Ethernet)?

All Plume pods must be plugged into an AC outlet and cannot be powered by PoE.

What happens if one of the Pods loses power or is disconnected?

If one of the pods happens to lose a connection or is unplugged, the system will reconfigure itself or self-heal, so you don’t lose a WiFi connection. Another path will be formed using your other pods to maintain coverage and network health. When the pod is restored, it is automatically placed back into the network, and optimization will take place.

Can pods be wired to each other (daisy-chained)?

Yes. You can wire pods to each other in a series of up to 2 pod-to-pod hops. It is important to note that you cannot wire pods to each other after a wireless hop, which will cause instability. 2-3 is recommended. 4 or more is recommended we send a truck roll out*

What can I use the Ethernet port on the pod for?

If you are not using the Ethernet port for backhaul connections, you can use the port for connections to your wired clients, like an XBOX or desktop PC. Even if your device is capable of both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, plugging a normally static device into the free Ethernet port of a convenient nearby pod will help free up more airtime for the Wi-Fi connections of other wireless-only devices.

What kind of Ethernet cable do you recommend?

You can use any quality Ethernet cable to hardwire your pods, although we recommend CAT 6 or CAT 7.

What do I do if I received an alert that my pods are placed too far apart?

If you have received a notification that your pods are placed too far apart, simply move them closer together to help improve your network’s performance! We recommend placing Pods about 15-20 feet apart for optimal performance. SuperPods typically can be placed 30-40 feet apart. Note that if you have particularly thick walls (brick, concrete, or large amounts of metal) or furniture blocking a pod, you may need to reduce these distances.

What's the difference between Plume, Wi-Fi routers, Extenders, and Mesh?

Routers have limited coverage.  Extenders can often improve the coverage, but they degrade the internet speed. Mesh Wi-Fi systems provide relatively higher coverage without degrading speed. They can replace your router as well. Plume Adapt is a unique mesh Wi-Fi system that uses AI to optimize your Wi-Fi based on your usage to deliver the best speed and coverage. Plume monitors your home environment, device types, and data requirements to provide each device the right speed and coverage. Plume utilizes multiple wireless channels and pods to do this. Plume’s intelligent optimization would allow you to use more devices efficiently simultaneously. Additionally, your Plume Wi-Fi system comes with a membership that will let you upgrade hardware firmware and use all the new features launched in the future.

What is the HomePass app for?

The HomePass app is required to manage your network and gives you insight into the health of your home network. You can access the app from anywhere as long as you have internet access.

Why is my WiFi connection slow?

There are several factors as to why a WiFi connection is slow. One or more pods may be too far away; not enough pods are connected in your home. One of the pods may be offline. There may be issues with your modem. Multiple Wi-fi networks are running in your area. There may be interference from other sources such as cordless phones, baby monitors, video senders, microwave ovens, and other electronics.

What does the LED light on my pod mean?

Quick, repeating Double blinks - Pod is waiting for optimization to finish. Quick Double blinks - Pod is being named by scanning the pod. Slow continuous pulse/breathing (dim to bright) – Pod is trying to connect with the cloud. Continuous rapid blinking (red) - there may be an issue with the onboard software. Rapid continuous white blinking- Possible fan failure.

Are there any requirements for creating my network name and password?

Make sure that your network name has between 1 and 31 characters. Your password should be between 8 and 63 characters. *Important: If you use the same network name and password from your old router, you may experience issues because some devices will be connected to your Plume network while others remain connected to the old router. Turn off Wi-Fi on your old router and the devices should then migrate over to the Plume network.

* Terms and Conditions apply. 1-year commitment required for Internet 75 and two superpods. Additional super pods will be billed accordingly.
