Phones and devices FAQs

What do I need to do if I want to port my mobile number to GTA?

Visit any of our GTA locations and provide a copy of your most recent wireless bill. A Customer Service Representative will then begin the porting process by sending a port request to your old carrier. Do not terminate service with your old carrier. If you do, you may lose your number altogether.

What is data roaming?

Data roaming is the ability to access data services such as receiving email and web browsing on your handset while traveling abroad.

Do phones purchased at GTA come with a warranty?

All phones except our Refurbished / Certified Pre-Owned Smartphones come with a warranty. Specifically, iPhone and iPad products will come with 1 Year Limited Warranty and all other smartphones on a 1 Year or 2 Year contract will come with 1 Year Limited Warranty.

What is LTE?

LTE, also known as Long Term Evolution, is the latest in Wireless Technology that provides faster data speeds. With LTE, you’ll be able to browse the web, watch videos, and download apps and music much faster than before.

Are there any specific plans I have to sign up for in order to get LTE?

No, as long as you have an LTE capable handset and one of our data plans, you’ll be able to enjoy our LTE network!

What’s the difference between 3G and 4G LTE?

With LTE, you’ll be able to browse the web, watch videos, and download apps much faster than if you were on a 3G network.

Do I have to pay extra for LTE?

No, as long as you have an LTE handset and one of our data plans, you’ll be able to jump on our LTE network without any extra fees or special data plans!

What does it mean when you say I have “fair coverage” in my area?

Compared to the speeds you currently experience with 3G, speed in a “fair coverage” area will be faster, but not quite as fast as our “good coverage areas”.

How can I get LTE?

In order to get LTE on our network, you will need an LTE capable handset.
